Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge gymnasts win haul of medals

-

A team of 47 Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge gymnasts have taken part in a top regional tournament this week – and returned with a haul of medals.

The young members of Highbridge’s Monarchs Gymnastics Club travelled to the South West NDP prelims in Yate, North Bristol. Teams as far apart as Cornwall and Gloucester took part.

Medal winners included Lawrence Fields and Faith Hands (bronze, Grade 3 mixed pairs); Jack Warburton and Harvey Crook (bronze, Grade 3 mens pairs); Evie Skinner and Evie Pole (silver, Grade 4 women pair open age); Lucy Smith, Amy Cracknell and Erin Morgan (gold, Grade 4 womens group – open age); and Toby Baker and Jack Hunt (bronze, Grade 5 mens pairs).

“Some of the youngest members of the club took part and for some of them it was their first competition and they can’t wait to take part in the South West Championships,” the club’s Mandy Warburton told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The club are off to Belgium next week with a team of six gymnasts taking part in the Flanders Cup which is running alongside the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup.”
