Young gymnasts from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have travelled to Germany this week to take part in an international competition.

A team of 19 gymnasts and their coaches from Highbridge-based Monarchs Acrobatic Gymnastics Club are competing in the Mainz International competition, the Gutenberg Cup.

“They are competing against teams from Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Bulgaria, as well as several clubs in Germany including the German national team,” the club’s Mandy Warburton told Burnham-on-Sea.com.

She added: “The Monarchs would like to say a huge thank you to Lidl’s in Burnham-On-Sea, who have given us a grant of £550 to help towards the cost of the trip.”
