Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge gymnasts from the town’s Monarchs Monarchs Acrobatic Gymnastics Club are celebrating this week after clinching several top gold places at a competition in Wales.
A team of 27 gymnasts from the Monarchs travelled from Highbhridge to Swansea at the weekend to take part in the West Street Open Championships.
They competed against teams from Wales, Ireland and England taking part, and there were also gymnasts from the Welsh National Team participating.
The group achieved some excellent results, including several gold medals.
In the 12-18 age group, Joe Blake and Kian Hawkes won Gold in Balance and Dynamic; Alice Kelson and Evie Tissington won Gold in Balance and Dynamic; Eloise Baker, Heather Reed and Olivia Reed won Silver in Balance and Combined Bronze medals in the team event.
And in the 11-16 age group, Joe Reed and Mason Wall won Gold in Balance and Dynamic; Ornela Velan, Jinny Ager and Ava Debonis won Bronze Silver medals in the team event.
In Level 5, Jenny Marsh and Summer Belben won Gold; Toby Baker and Jack Hunt won Gold Jess Reed, Amy Cracknell and Erin Morgan won Gold and Bronze medals in the team event.
In Level 4, Gina Cumberlidge and Evie Pole won Gold; Jack Warburton and Tilly Garrod won Silver; Evie Skinner and Ellie MacBeth won Silver; and Aaliyah Chan and Amara Gamwell won Bronze.
On the same weekend, four of the Monarchs’ youngest gymnasts were also competing in Sherborne in the South West regional CDC Championships also with excellent results.
In Level 2, Louis Reed and Doris Fields won Gold; and Faith Hands, Harriet Hobbs and Amelia Wainwright won Silver.
