Volunteers from BARB and Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard were called away from their Jubilee celebrations on Monday (June 4th) to search for a suspected missing person at Brean.
Crews were called to the beach at 12.45pm after a beach warden discovered a large quantity of clothing and personal possessions in the sand dunes in suspicious circumstances.
A section of the beach was temporarily cordoned off, as pictured below, and police were also called to investigate.
“Fourteen crewmembers from Burnham Coastguard and BARB carried out a full search of the dunes for several hours before they were stood down. No-one was found, but investigations are ongoing,” Burnham Coastguard Officer Ian Jefferies told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
