Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is set to be performed in Burnham-On-Sea’s Marine Cove gardens this summer – and residents are being encouraged to get involved.
The event, scheduled for the 20th June, will see the first full-scale play being performed in the Green Flag Award-Winning gardens which are managed by Sedgemoor District Council and the Friends of Marine Cove.
Local people are being asked for those to come forward if they have ever considered being involved in a drama production, or fancied performing in front of an audience or interacting with crowds. Further helpers with costume design and backstage support are also needed.
If you are interested in being involved with the outdoor production, then come along to the Princess Theatre in Princess Street, Burnham to find out more on Monday 2nd March at 7pm.
“The production will see one of the Bard’s best loved plays come to Marine Cove Gardens. Of course we can’t guarantee the Great British sunshine so we have the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre on standby as a wet-weather venue,” said Community Gardener Jacqui Strong.
“Rehearsals for the Shakespeare production will take place on Monday evenings following on from the initial meeting.”
“Everything is up for grabs whether it be the director, backstage help, costume department and of course the acting roles. We look forward to seeing you at the initial meeting so we can make this a real community-led performance.”
