-

Heavy rain and high winds in excess of 60mph are set to hit the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Saturday), the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for thunderstorms and heavy rain in our area today, which will affect Burnham-On-Sea and a large area of the south west.

The warning is in place for high winds until midnight, with the Burnham-On-Sea weather forecast showing strong winds that could cause disruption.

Heavy showers or thunderstorms, potentially causing disruption, are predicted and the government’s Flood Information Service says flooding is possible in places.

A Met Office spokesman says: “Unseasonably strong southwesterly winds are expected to cause some disruption.”

“Gusts in excess of 60 mph are likely around coasts of Bristol Channel, English Channel and through the Strait of Dover.”

The Met Office also warns of large amounts of rainfall that could hit the Burnham-on-Sea area.
