Burnham-On-Sea Medical Centre receives youth service award

-

The accreditation is only granted to those services that go the extra mile for their young clients and set a top standard in service quality. Services must be able to demonstrate that they have improved their accessibility, choice and quality of services offered to young people aged 11-19.

Sister Lynne Humphries, who is Lead Nurse and Practice Lead at Burnham Medical Centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are extremely pleased to receive this national award. This has been a team effort and I would like to thank everyone within the practice for their co-operation and support. I would also like to thank Gemma Denman, Young People’s Ambassador and Kate Jones, School Nurse both from King Alfred School and Craig Boothroyd for his input for patients with learning disabilities.”

The award assessors commended the medical centre, saying: “Everyone has worked very hard to improve on what is already a very good service to become a first rate service to young people both within the practice and in the Young Adults Drop-In Clinic. Burnham has set a very high standard for other GP services to follow.”

Barbara Buckley, Implementation Lead for the ‘You’re Welcome’ programme at NHS Somerset added: “The ‘You’re Welcome’ accreditation is a wonderful achievement for all the staff and a marvellous opportunity to demonstrate how the GP surgery is delivering an excellent service to young people.”

“Special mention must be made for the hard work and dedication to achieve this award by Lynne Humphries, Lead Practice Nurse, Administration Assistant Lynne Harling, Management Partner Debbie Hale and members of the Practice Team.”
