Burnham-On-Sea policewoman Pam Whitehead has spoken of her ‘shock’ at being awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List.
Pam, 57, has been given the award in recognition of her services to Avon and Somerset Constabulary over more than 30 years.
She has been a front desk enquiries advisor at Burnham Police Station for 36 years and has been involved with Avon and Somerset Police for a total of 38 years.
Pam – who is also a long-running volunteer with the Royal British Legion – told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’m still trying to get over the shock of hearing that I have been given an MBE. It’s a huge honour and privilege.”
“I love helping the community, supporting my colleagues, and helping to take away some of the pressure on the police officers around me. I have dealt with many wonderful people over the past 38 years.”
Inspector Roger Tolley from Burnham Police told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Pam is an absolute credit to Burnham Police Station, having put in a huge amount of time on our front desk. This award is very well-deserved recognition of her dedication to the role and all the time she has given to the community.”
