Christmas message issued by Burnham and Highbridge’s Mayor

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor, Cllr Michael Clarke, has issued his annual Christmas message to residents.

In it, he looks back at a busy year of events across the two towns and wishes residents a happy Christmas.

Michael, pictured with Mayoress Maria Clarke, says: “At this festive time I’m sure that like me most of us look back over the year, remembering our highs and lows. As I look back, I am pleased to see that the community spirit that binds us together seems to be growing stronger with each year that passes.”

“Burnham and Highbridge contain so many people who tirelessly dedicate themselves to make our towns the thriving communities that they are. So much work goes on behind the scenes that as I visit new and old clubs and organisations, the sense of pride and satisfaction in what they are achieving is clear to see.”

“Of course not all are involved in the community, and to those who have suffered loss, those who are alone, and those who through no fault of their own find that their life has changed for the worse I send my thoughts and prayers at this Christmas time.”

“As Christmas day approaches, most of us will be busy with the preparation for a day of celebration with family and friends, the day will bring too much food and hopeful resolutions, but still a magical time and I hope you will all enjoy.”

“I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling that the years pass by more quickly now than they used to! But perhaps 2016 will slow down just enough that we can all accomplish what we want to.”

“I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”
