Mayor’s charity of the year, Burnham Sea Cadets, receives financial boost

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor has this week handed the town’s Sea Cadets with a financial boost.

Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer and Mayoress Lorna Brewer – who recently made Burnham Sea Cadets their charity of the year – presented £485.50 raised from a collection at the recent Civic Service to the group’s Carole Roberts at Monday’s Town Council meeting.

The Mayor told councillors he’d been impressed with the group’s activities during a recent visit to the cadets HQ in Burnham’s Cassis Close, which we covered here.

Cllr Brewer said: “We were encouraged to see number of cadets attending and to see their enthusiasm. We were very impressed with the high standards maintained throughout the unit.”

“We are very pleased to be able to support TS Dulverton as the Mayor’s charity for this year and trust we can help with fundraising towards the planned building improvements and that this will be a further encouragement to the cadets as well as your team of officers and volunteers.”
