Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor and Mayoress were unanimously re-elected to their civic roles for a second year by members of the Town Council on Monday (May 12th).
Councillor Martin Cox and his wife Arlene, pictured right, said they were “honoured” to be chosen to lead the towns for a second term.
Cllr Dennis Davey became Deputy Mayor and Cllr Mike Mansfield retained the position of Second Deputy Mayor.
Cllr Neville Jones proposed that Cllr Cox be re-elected, telling Monday’s council meeting: “Martin and Arlene have done an exceedingly good job over the past year and are well respected across Burnham and Highbridge – they deserve a second year.”
The Mayor said: “We’ve had a very warm welcome at many events across Burnham and Highbridge during the past year.”
“It is a great honour to represent the towns and we look forward to a busy 12 months ahead.”
Cllr Cox also thanked The Mayor’s Cadet, Harry Jackson, pictured right, from Burnham’s 290 Air Cadets Squadron after a busy year of events.
He also thanked Cllr Pauline Pollard for all her work as Deputy Mayor and The Mayor’s Chaplain, Reverend Graham Witts.
