Burnham-On-Sea Mayor formally appoints new council VIPs

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor, Peter Clayton, officially named several important council positions on Monday evening (June 2nd).

Tom Barker was officially confirmed as the Mayor’s Cadet and Christine Judson, Curate of St John’s Church in Highbridge, became the Mayor’s Chaplain.

Christine is seen here being handed the council’s red ‘stole’, an embroidered red band of cloth, while Tom was presented with a cadet’s badge to mark the start of his new role.

Burnham’s former Mayor, Pauline Pollard, was also presented with the Past Mayor’s Badge by Cllr Clayton before Monday evening’s council meeting.

Pauline broke a bone in her shoulder during a garden accident last month and was unable to attend May’s council meeting when she would normally have received the badge.

In a short speech, Cllr Clayton payed tribute to her “excellent work” over the past year.

“You have served with honour and dignity and have been a credit to Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge,” he said.
