Burnham Coastguards and lifeboats launch search after Mayday call

-

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and lifeboat crews joined a search of the Bristol Channel on Monday evening (May 7th) amid concern for a yacht.

Coastguards were called out at 5.30pm after reports that an emergency Mayday radio message had been heard.

Both Burnham RNLI’s lifeboats were called out and an extensive search of the area around Bridgwater Bay and the River Parrett estuary was conducted, but nothing was found and the crews were stood down at 7pm.

Other Coastguards teams around the Bristol Channel also joined the search.
