Delighted staff at a Burnham-On-Sea craft shop are celebrating this week after scooping a top award in a national competition for a seventh year running.
At the British Craft Awards in Birmingham, Material Needs in Burnham High Street was named ‘South West Stitching Retailer Of The Year’ after attracting scores of votes from customers.
The shop’s owners, John and Katharine Edwards, told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week they are “extremely proud ” to have won the award, which they received during a ceremony held at the NEC in Birmingham.
John said: “We are really chuffed and proud that Material Needs has been recognised in this way once again. It is a tremendous achievement, not only for us at the shop, but for Burnham-On-Sea and Somerset.”
“It comes with the hard work of our staff and services dedicated to serving the needs of customers, plus the considerable support of our customers. A big thank you once again goes to all those customers who voted for us. We are very grateful.”
Material Needs has won the overall retailer award for each of four years as well as the knitting retailer of the year from 2009 to 2012.
