The centre of Highbridge briefly came to a halt on Thursday afternoon (August 28th) as Burnham firefighters tackled a car blaze.
One fire engine was sent to Market Street at 1.56pm, as pictured here, after local police raised the alarm that a blue Rover 214 was smoking outside the Coopers Inn.
“One fire engine from Burnham attended the incident and the crew found a small fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle,” fire spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The fire was extinguished by the crew using a hose reel jet.”
“The vehicle was damaged five per cent by fire and heat, and five per cent by smoke in the engine compartment.”
Market Street was fully re-opened again by 2.30pm.
