Police have been searching the scene of a crash near Burnham-On-Sea for evidence after a man was arrested on Thursday morning (February 26th) in connection with the death of a woman.
Officers were called to Southwick Road in the village of Mark, near Burnham-On-Sea, at 9.15am on Thursday where a car crashed into a ditch.
Police say the vehicle had been seen leaving a property in Glastonbury where a lady had died after an assault just before 8.30am.
Detective Inspector Lorna Dallimore told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was reported that a woman had been assaulted and was in a life-threatening condition. Sadly the woman died at the scene.”
“Officers were subsequently called to a single vehicle collision in Mark involving a car reportedly seen leaving the address in Glastonbury. A man was injured and trapped in the vehicle and was taken to hospital.”
She added that specially-trained officers have been supporting the family at this difficult time. A 50 year-old man has been arrested after the death of the 45 year-old woman.
