Burnham’s Marine Cove gardens get a splash of summer colour!

-

A splash of colour was introduced at Burnham-On-Sea’s newly-refurbished Marine Cove gardens on Saturday (September 10th) when a group of residents took part in a community planting session.

Dozens of flowers were planted by nine residents, as pictured, ahead of the park’s grand re-opening later this month.

“Good progress was made on the work to introduce hundreds of flowers in time for our opening ceremony on September 24th,” Community Gardener Jacqui Strong told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Further community planting sessions are planned for September 16th and 18th from 10am-midday when all are welcome to help.

As we reported earlier this week, the official opening will also include a ceremonial seafront parade of supporters dressed in 1920s costumes. Starting at 10.45am on the jetty, the parade will make its way to Marine Cove, where a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held.

The three-year Marine Cove refurbishment project has been overseen by Sedgemoor District Council and part-funded with £344,200 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
