A 65-year-old Burnham-On-Sea grandmother is pulling on her running shoes to compete in this year’s London Marathon.
‘Supergran’ Ann Rogers is being backed by friends and colleagues at Burnham shoe shop Shickles, where she has worked for 25 years.
The High Street firm is donating 50 pence from every pair of shoes sold to Ann’s chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West, until April 13th.
Ann – who celebrated her 65th birthday in January – is a mother of four and a grandmother of six so has to fit in her training around busy family commitments.
“I’m really looking forward to completing the London Marathon with my running partner Julie. We hope to raise £3,000 for this worthwhile cause,” said Ann.
Shickles owner Geoff Shickle told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are keen to help in any way we can, so to help them reach their target we’re contributing 50p a pair of shoes and will also be holding weekly raffles amongst our customers.”
