Burnham-On-Sea runner in training for London Marathon

-

A Burnham-On-Sea man is in training to run the London Marathon this April in aid of a local charity.

Financial advisor Richard Thomas, 54, will be taking part in the gruelling 26-mile race to raise money for the Highbridge-based National Blind Children’s Society.

Richard – who will be among tens of thousands of runners pounding the streets of the capital – has been in training since November.

Despite running shorter races over the last four years, with the big race just around the corner the tough task in front of him is starting to hit home.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s a daunting prospect but it’s something I have always wanted to do and to be able to raise money for such an important local charity has given me the extra drive needed.”

“The support I have received so far has been superb and I’m extremely grateful – it would be amazing to keep that going right up until the race. It’s been quite tough training so far but I am just about on track and can’t wait to cross the finish line knowing it has all been worth it.”
