The financial downturn has led to 20 workers being laid off at a Highbridge manufacturing company this week.
Manuflex, which is based on the Walrow Industrial Estate in the town, told Burnham-On-Sea.com it had made the decision with “deep regret.”
Managing director Ray Stewart confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday: “Due to the current economic downturn, Manuflex is announcing with great regret the loss of 20 posts within the business.”
“This action is needed to secure the long term prospects of the company and ensure that it is well-placed when the market recovers.”
The sheet metal fabrication business employed 80 staff and turned over £5.3m last financial year.
It was established in 1988 in Weston, before it moved to Highbridge in 1996 and expanded into a second factory in 2006.
