Robbery and assault in Burnham’s Manor Gardens prompts appeal

Burnham-On-Sea Police have appealed for witnesses following an assault and robbery in the town on Wednesday evening (March 9th).

The incident happened at about 6.30pm in Burnham’s Manor Gardens.

A group of six teenagers – five males and a female – were approached by two men, thought to be aged between 17-22 years. They threatened the group and demanded property.

One of the group was assaulted and suffered a minor hand injury which required hospital treatent.

Various items were taken including a wallet, passport, mobile phones and a rucksack by the suspects, who left in the directory of the cemetery.

Police spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “One of the men is described as a white or mixed heritage man, about 6ft 3ins tall of medium build with blond hair with a black and white bandana across his face and wearing a black Adidas branded hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.”

“The second suspect is described as a white man, about 5ft 8ins tall, of chubby build and wearing a hooded top, possibly in a camouflage style with light blue panels of the sleeves, with black or grey coloured tracksuit bottoms. Both men spoke with a West Midlands accent.”

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident who may have information to help our enquiries.”
