A family had a lucky escape from this upturned car after it careered off the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (March 27th).
Fire, police and ambulance services were called to the southbound carriageway near junction 22 at Burnham-On-Sea just before 4pm after the Ford Fusion came off the carriageway, flipped over and came to rest at the bottom of a ditch, as pictured here.
Fire crews from Burnham and Weston were called to the scene, but the family managed to scramble out of the damaged vehicle on their own. Their injuries were not understood to be serious.
Two lanes of the motorway were temporarily closed while emergency services were on scene, leading to queues of traffic for passing motorists.
