This was the scene that greeted motorists when they tried to access the sliproad onto the M5 motorway at Burnham-On-Sea this morning (Friday, July 9th).
Police and the Highways Agency shut the entry onto the motorway at Edithmead after a lorry transporting meat products shed its load.
The normally busy junction was closed to all traffic, which was diverted along alternative routes, thereby causing long delays to traffic through Highbridge.
“The area where the lorry shed its load had to be decontaminated due to the nature of the meat products that were spilt onto the roadway,” a Highways Agency spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
