A 14 year-old boy has died after a crash near Burnham-On-Sea involving a lorry and a car on the M5 motorway.
The Vauxhall Astra collided with the rear of an articulated lorry, causing the car to spin in the carriageway between junction 22 at Burnham and 23 at Bridgwater North shortly after 2am on Wednesday last week, as we reported here.
The teenager from Poland was a passenger in the car and suffered serious injuries. Police said this week he died at Musgrove Park Hospital the following evening.
Police are seeking witnesses to the crash to help with the investigation. Contact the police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
The M5 was closed for several hours and there were significant delays in the area while crews cleaned up the carriageway, as pictured below.
