Motorists faced delays on the M5 motorway at Burnham-On-Sea on Thursday evening (August 21st) after a car crashed off the carriageway.
One fire engine from Burnham and ambulance crews were sent to reports of the collision between junctions 21 and 22.
“Upon arrival, fire crews found a vehicle in a ditch. A lady was rescued by the fire service using power tools and a tirfor winch but was not understood to be seriously hurt,” said a fire spokesman.
The incident, which occurred just after 4.30pm, caused delays to southbound traffic for two hours during the busy evening commuter period.
