A motorist died in a crash on the M5 at Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday morning (November 21st).
The man suffered a suspected cardiac arrest and his car collided with the central reservation, it was confirmed on Sunday.
The M5 was closed in both directions between Junction 22 at Burnham-On-Sea and 23 for Bridgwater North from 10.20am, as pictured, while an air ambulance landed on the northbound carriageway – but the man sadly could not be saved.
Emergency services were called to the scene and all traffic along the main carriageway was held for around an hour. Long tailbacks built up on the M5 motorway and two lanes were closed about one mile from Burnham’s junction 22.
