The M5 motorway has re-opened near Burnham-On-Sea after a crash between two lorries caused an oil spill on Thursday (February 16th).
The collision involving a lorry and a car transporter occurred on the northbound carriageway between junction 23 for Bridgwater and junction 22 for Burnham-On-Sea at just before 10.15am.
Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea, Bridgwater and Taunton were sent to the scene to rescue a driver trapped in his cab.
Crews used cutting equipment to safely remove the driver and a South Western Ambulance Service said his injuries were minor and that he was taken to Western General Hospital as a precaution.
Highways England worked to resurface part of the road overnight where oil was spilled, damaging the carriageway, as pictured here.
The incident led to long delays for motorists travelling between Bridgwater and Burnham-On-Sea with the A38 through Highbridge also slow due to diverted traffic.
