One lane of the M5 motorway was closed at Burnham-On-Sea on Friday morning (January 11th) after a one-vehicle accident.
A Vauxhall Vectra collided with the central reservation on the northbound carriageway between junctions 22 for Burnham and junction 23 for Bridgwater North, leading to the closure of the outside lane.
Police spokeswoman Melissa Cullam told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “One vehicle was in collision with the central reservation at around 7.38am and luckily there were no injuries.”
“The Highways Agency was called and lane three was closed to traffic while recovery took place.”
Driving conditions were poor at the time due to heavy rain, although it was not known whether this contributed to the accident. The accident led to rush-hour delays for motorists along the stretch.
