Crash causes long delays on M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea

-

Motorists faced long delays on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea on Monday afternoon (August 10th) after a car accident.

Queues of stationery traffic backed up on the southbound carriageway between junction 23 at Highbridge and junction 22 for Burnham after a car ploughed into the central reservation, as pictured here here.

“Police and an ambulance were called at 1.23pm to a one vehicle road traffic collision that shut one lane,” police spokeswoman Cath Foster told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“A Renault collided with the central reservation, damaging the vehicle, but the female driver inside was not seriously hurt.”

The motorway was very busy with holiday traffic and did not fully clear until two hours later.
