Long delays after caravan overturns on M5 near Burnham-On-Sea

-

This was the scene on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (August 20th) after a serious crash led to a caravan overturning onto the central reservation.

Long queues of traffic built up approaching the accident, which occurred on the southbound carriageway about one mile from junction 23 at Dunball.

Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea and Weston were called to the scene at around 12.30pm after the 4×4 towing the caravan appeared to lose control, flipping over.

A police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Luckily, no-one was seriously hurt but the incident caused queues of around one hour for southbound traffic past Burnham.”

Two lanes on the southbound carriageway and one running northbound were closed, causing long queues of traffic on the A38 through Highbridge as motorists sought the alternative route.
