The M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea was closed to all traffic on Sunday (July 4th) when fire crews tackled a car blaze.
These were the scenes on the southbound carriageway next to the exit of Sedgemoor Services as crews tackled the fire, which completely destroyed the car.
Fire crews used breathing apparatus and several hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control.
It led to the temporary closure of the motoway and the services, prompting long queues of traffic to build up. The M5 was fully re-opened later in the morning.
The family inside the vehicle are understood to have escaped without injury.
