The Highways Agency was carrying out repairs to barriers on the M5 motorway near Burnham on Monday night (February 9th) after one lane had been closed earlier in the evening by an accident.
A vehicle ploughed into a side barrier on the northbound carriageway just one mile from junction 22, close to a bridge over the River Brue, as pictured here.
Police were called to the scene at 8pm during poor driving conditions caused by heavy rainfall. There were not believed to have been any serious injuries.
