Motorists faced delays on the M5 motorway at Burnham-On-Sea this afternoon (Wednesday, June 6th) after an accident closed the southbound carriageway.
A car struck the central reservation on the nothbound carriageway at around 4pm during a period of rain, throwing debris onto the southbound carriageway, leading to its temporary closure, as pictured here.
Highways Agency staff stopped traffic while they cleaned the carriageway.
Police spokesman Martin Dunscombe told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A green Peugeot 206 collided with the central reservation 300 metres from junction 22 at Burnham.”
An ambulance was called and there were not understood to be any serious injuries. The incident caused delays for motorists travelling in both directions.
