A motorcyclist was air-lifted to hospital following a serious accident on the M5 motorway near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday (August 5th).
The man was flown by air ambulance to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol following the incident shortly after 10.30am on the northbound carriageway.
A female passenger was also injured in the accident, which involved a black Harley Davidson and a car.
An ambulance spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A man suffered head injuries and was flown to Frenchay Hospital, while a female who suffered head and shoulder injuries was taken by road ambulance to Weston General Hospital.”
Police closed the motorway while the air ambulance landed and motorists were diverted along the A370 through Edithmead and Brent Knoll, causing long delays in the area. Among those held up was Highbridge councillor Cllr Joe Leach who was delayed on the M5 entry slipway at Burnham.
