New community cafe is opened by Burnham-On-Sea’s former MP

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s former MP has opened a new community cafe in Lympsham this week.

Tessa Munt was invited along to perform the opening of the facilities on Tuesday afternoon.

Sponsored by Lympsham Parish Council and local businesses and run by volunteers, the cafe at The Pavilion will be open every Tuesday from 10am-4.30pm, selling hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes.

In 1992 Henry Counsel gave the Pavilion to the community for the benefit of the community and making more use of it during the day has been a long standing ambition.

LEBE’s Community Café is part of that plan. LEBE stands for Lympsham, Eastertown, Brent Knoll and East Brent – and whilst the café is primarily for local people, everyone is welcome, including well-behaved dogs.

George Tuttiett, Lympsham Parish Councillor and the instigator of LEBE’s Community Café, said: “The café will be a place where people can make new friends or catch up with old ones or simply enjoy excellent coffee amd cakes and read a newspaper. LEBE’s community café is conveniently next door to the Village Shop & post office and close to a children’s play area.”

“I am grateful to the Pavilion committee for their support and delighted LEBE’s Community Café is here. I am sure many people will benefit from this venture and our community spirit will make it a success.”
