‘Substantial amount of cash’ stolen in Lympsham burglary, say Police

-

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a burglary at a house in Lympsham in which a substantial amount of cash in US dollars were stolen.

It happened at about 9.45pm on Friday 14th July. The householders were at home when they were disturbed by the suspects.

After demanding money and jewellery, the suspects made off on foot towards the church with the cash and some costume jewellery in an eighties-style Louis Vuitton duffle bag belonging to the family.

The police helicopter and specialist dog units supported officers in their initial investigation and Crime Scene Investigators have examined the property.

DC Richard Grierson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This incident has understandably left the couple feeling shaken and distressed and they are being supported by their family.”

“We’re carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area but I’d ask anyone with any information which could help the investigation to get in touch with me.”

“I’m especially keen to hear from anyone who has been offered US dollars, costume jewellery or the designer bag for sale in unusual circumstances, or saw any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously in the East Brent or Lympsham area.”

If you can help, please get in touch through the police website, www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or call 101, quoting reference 5217161056.
