A busy road in Burnham-On-Sea has closed for four months as major roadworks get underway.
Love Lane is shut from the junction with Stoddens Lane to the Tesco roundabout from 9th January through to 19th May 2017 while Wessex Water lays new sewer pipes.
Rolling closures are in operation, along with a diversion route, during the work to minimise disruption on local residents.
Lauren East, a Wessex Water spokeswoman, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re currently carrying out essential improvements to the sewerage network in Brent Knoll, as part of a larger scheme to reduce the risk of flooding during times of intense rainfall.”
“Part of this work involves laying new sewer pipes along Love Lane and the fields adjacent to Stodden’s Lane, so some site traffic may be visible.”
“To lay new pipework in Love Lane, the road will be closed between Stodden’s Lane and the roundabout for approximately four months. An approved diversion route for through traffic will be in use during this time.”
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused while we complete this work as quickly as possible.”
Affected residents are also being contacted regarding the arrangements during the works.
