A new restaurant has opened for business in Burnham-On-Sea town centre this week.
The Lounge has opened in place of The Mitre in Burnham’s College Street with a revamped dining area and a new menu of local food.
Managers Craig Peters and Jimie Scully say they are looking forward to welcoming their first customers.
“We have a quality English menu offering modern takes on classic dishes and also a line-up of superb seafood,” Craig told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“We are sourcing as many of our ingredients from local suppliers as possible, so our fish comes from Sea Foods in the High Street and our vegetables come from Gardiner Whites here in Burnham and we have meat being supplied by a local butcher.”
“Our menu includes some really special dishes – lime and chilli scallops, oven baked sea bass, and a ‘surf and turf’ with fresh steak and king prawns – to name a few.”
“We will be holding regular taster nights when diners can try nine of our great dishes – starters, mains and desserts. We also have a Valentine’s night event planned for February featuring a ‘singer and supper evening’ that will be really special.”
Craig and Jimie have given the interior of the restaurant a modern uplift. Craig explains: “It had a dated feel inside, so we’ve introduced a new bar area and put in new carpets, linen, and also fully decorated it with a fresh modern look.”
“The Mitre had its place in Burnham as a quality restaurant but it needed a modern touch which is why we’ve introduced The Lounge with fresh local food, friendly service and a welcoming environment. We hope local people will love it and not just come along for special occasions.”
It is open Wednesday to Saturday evenings from 6pm-9pm. It’s also open for lunches from Thursday to Sunday from 12pm-3pm.
