Burnham-On-Sea newsagent receives £2.8m National Lottery surprise

-

A Burnham-On-Sea newsagent has spoken of his shock at being named the top independent retailer for lottery funding in the South West.

GW Hurley in Burnham High Street has raised a huge £2.8million for the lottery’s good causes through its customers since 1994.

The store’s owner, Colin Morris, has been presented with a plaque marking the achievement by National Lottery operators Camelot.

Colin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s come as a big surprise to receive this plaque out of the blue. It’s wonderful to know that our sales of lottery tickets have helped local good causes by such a huge sum.”

“We’ve had many big winners here over the past 20 years, helping to make some dreams come true while also raising money for some great causes.”

The plaque has taken pride of place in the shop’s window for customers to see.
