Two treated by ambulance crews after lorry crashes off M5 at Burnham

-

A recovey operation was underway on Friday (March 20th) after a dramatic lorry crash at Burnham-On-Sea overnight.

Two people were treated by ambulance crews after an articulated delivery lorry left the M5 at Burnham and ended up in a ditch shortly after 10pm on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway between junction at Burnham and junction 21 for Weston-Super-Mare.

“Two fire appliances from Burnham and a rescue tender from Taunton were sent to reports of a collision with possible persons trapped,” said a spokesman. “On arrival, crews confirmed that the lorry had left the carriageway and ended up in a field with two persons still inside.”

The two casualties were led to safety by ambulance crews and treated at the scene for minor injuries while fire crews made the vehicle safe.

The hard shoulder was closed while the recovery operation was underway.
