Police closed one lane of the M5 motorway at Burnham-On-Sea for almost two hours on Tuesday evening (January 23rd) after a lorry shed its load of fence panels across the carriageway.
The inside lane of the southbound carriageway near junction 22, pictured, was closed at 7.45pm after a large quantity of panels fell from the back of the vehicle.
“It appears the driver didn’t know what had happened as the lorry didn’t stop for a half mile afterwards,” an Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
She added that Highways Agency staff worked with police to clear the motorway, which fully re-opened again at 9.39pm. There were no injuries.
