A group of local students are set to hold a fundraising family fun day and a charity football match in Burnham-On-Sea this Friday (July 26th) as part of a government-backed community programme.
The youngsters, from Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge, are taking part in the National Citizen Service initiative.
They are organising a Children’s Summer Bash at the Bay Centre in Cassis Close from 10am-12.30pm followed by a charity football at 1pm.
One of the team, Reece Cornelius, said: “The charity we are fundraising for is the Children’s Society – we are holding the events to raise money and awareness of the charity along with completing our social action project.”
NCS (National Citizen Service) is a government-backed programme which brings young people aged 15 – 17 from different backgrounds together for a common purpose.
Social mixing is at the heart of NCS. By making the programme accessible for everyone and by setting team goals and challenges, we inspire new friendships across differences.
The Challenge is now a leading provider of NCS, working with our partners and seasonal staff to deliver the programme to tens of thousands of young people every year.
