Banking on a fresh new look – Burnham’s renamed Lloyds is opened

-

Lloyds Bank in Burnham-On-Sea town centre was re-opened on Wednesday (September 25th) after undergoing a rebranding.

The bank in The High Street is one of more than 1,300 branches across the country getting a new look following its split with TSB earlier this month.

Burnham’s Mayor Cllr Martin cut the ribbon to open the newly-named bank at 11am.

He was joined by invited representatives from Burnham rescue hovercraft charity BARB and Burnham’s Food & Drink Festival.

Mayor Martin Cox said: “It is welcome news for Burnham that after the split between Lloyds Bank and TSB, Lloyds have decided to stay in our High Street.”

“We are very lucky in Burnham-On-Sea to have a vibrant town centre with many varied shops. Unlike many other towns, we rarely see shops with their shutters down.”

“Banks are the hub of financial life and busines in any town and to have a strong bank presence is to have a strong local economy – so we welcome the new slimmed-down, re-born Lloyds Bank.”

BARB has been nominated by the bank’s staff for a chance to receive a Lloyds Bank Community Fund Award and the charity is therefore appealing to local people to give their support by voting online here or calling in at the branch.

The Food Festival organisers, Beverley and Sarah Milner Simonds, also dropped in at Wednesday’s launch to give tasters of what to expect at Saturday’s event.
