Community-spirited Burnham-On-Sea youth club launches litter pick

-

Community-spirited members of a Burnham-On-Sea youth club have launched a litter clean-up after reading about rubbish being left near the town’s BAY Centre.

The Zone Youth Club members collected several bags of rubbish near the sports courts after reading on Burnham-On-Sea.com here about the litter problems.

The club’s Jayne Lilley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We saw the article on Burnham-On-Sea.com about the litter problems at the Bay Centre.”

“None of our youth members at The Zone Youth Club are responsible for this.”

“However, we feel very strongly about the amount of rubbish that littered the sports area outside the centre and noticed groups of older youths that seem to congregate there that are not part of our club.”

“We don’t like to see the area looking messy as we take pride in our surroundings and the Bay Centre and because of this the children volunteered to go round and pick it all up.”

“We filled up two bin bags of rubbish and urge others that use the free facilities to dispose of their rubbish in the bins provided around the site.”
