Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club appeals for Quantocks walk fundraisers

-

Members of clubs and charities in the Burnham-On-Sea area which need funding are being invited to pull on their walking boots and rucksacks to take part in a sponsored walk in the Quantocks next month.

Organised by Burnham-On-Sea and District Lions Club, the sponsored walk’s main purpose will be to support the work of the Children’s Hospice South West.

However, participants will be able to retain half of their sponsorship money to support other local charities or clubs in the Burnham area.

This year’s event, to be held on May 23rd, will be the fifteenth annual walk.

Over the years more than £30,000 has been raised for Children’s Hospice South West and last year’s event alone collected £1,453.50.

“There will be a choice of two walks this year. Either a six-mile main walk or a shorter walk of three miles,” co-organiser John Hodgson told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“Walkers may start at any time between 9.30am and 12.30pm. Cold drinks and biscuits will be provided along the way and hot drinks will also be available at the finish. It should be another fun event.”

Sponsor forms and further details can be obtained from Home Hardware at 53 The High Street in Burnham-On-Sea or by calling Mr Hodgson on 01278 782527.
