Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club enjoyed a special lunch at the town’s Lighthouse Inn on Sunday where outgoing Club President Roger Tolley handed over the chain of office to Claire Oliver for the club’s 40th year.
Members are proud to have selected Claire as the first female to hold the Office of Club President in the Centenary Year of Lions Clubs International and the Burnham club’s fourth decade.
Roger also presented awards to Colin Rufus and Keith Conway, as well as thanking members for all they have achieved this year.
Claire echoed Roger’s congratulations, reminding members that they have contributed to many local individuals, causes and organisations.
She said she hopes this coming year the club can continue to grow and work for those in need, especially in our community, while having fun doing so and enjoying many social occasions.

This scheme provides a special bottle, given away by Lions Clubs for free, to elderly and infirm to keep in their fridge with all details of their medication and illnesses for the emergency services if they need it.
