New marine paint trialled on Burnham-On-Sea’s famous lighthouse

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s iconic lighthouse has been given a fresh coat of a specialised marine paint this week, which should mean it won’t have to be decorated as frequently in the future.

Contractors from Sedgemoor District Council have been using a cherry picker and other equipment to paint the famous nine-legged wooden building, as pictured here.

“Painting has been taking place this week and, until now, it’s always been done every three years,” council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“However, we are currently trialling a new marine paint that’s used on other lighthouses which will hopefully mean it won’t have to be decorated so often.”
