It is exactly 20 years ago this week since Burnham-On-Sea’s high lighthouse was extinguished for the last time.
The 33-metre tall lighthouse in Berrow Road was taken out of service for the final time on December 31st 1993 at 5.30pm.
The lighthouse had aided navigation for shipping in Bridgwater Bay for 161 years before being finally closed down.
The lighthouse now provides holiday accommodation to tourists. Over the past year the brick-built tower has been renovated by its owner, as pictured here.
