RNLI lifeguards have finished their first summer season on Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow beaches this week – and will return again next year.
Sedgemoor District Council introduced the team of lifeguards to boost safety on local beaches and says they have been a success.
“The lifeguards worked alongside Sedgemoor District Council’s beach management team of beach wardens and clean surroundings staff and have been hailed as a great success,” the council’s Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The lifeguards will resume their duties next season during July and August.”
Meanwhile, the council’s beach wardens will remain on duty until late September. Beach wardens supervise beach activities, provide basic first aid, issue jetty permits and collect car parking fees.
