Burnham-On-Sea’s RNLI station has this week welcomed home its Atlantic 75 lifeboat, called The Staines Whitfield.
At the end of April the lifeboat was sent to the RNLI’s lifeboat repair facilities for its regular four-yearly refit.
The boat was temporarily replaced by another lifeboat from the RNLI relief fleet.
On Wednesday, the relief lifeboat was launched from Burnham beach, whilst the Staines Whitfield was launched from the River Brue and they took part in a towing exercise with Burnham RNLI’s Deputy Launch Authority Rod Southwell’s yacht ‘Walrus’.
One interesting addition is a new on-board video camera, which has the ability to record details of rescues and incidents.
Relief lifeboat Jack and Joyce Burcombe has been returned to the pool fleet, ready to take up service at its next relief assignment.
